We are a diverse group of coffee enthusiasts who, in keeping with Svalbard’s ethos, bring an adventurous mindset and diversity with our skills and approach.
Arriving to the island with a dog and a small backpack we quickly made friends and discovered many wishing more variety in foods and drink.
Coffee is shipped to the island regardless, so why not decide what coffee arrives and roast it fresh?
We are certain that many who have experienced the outdoor life on this island can relate to the pleasure of the occasional ‘warm’ cosy indoor day and for us, nestled up to a coffee roaster with the aroma of fresh coffee we find is a good way to spend it.
So the roastery then combines our love for wilderness guiding with our knowledge of the coffee industry. In essence where our indoor life meets our outdoor life - or where Fire meets Ice.
Being a small scale, part time roastery allows us to offer an almost tailor-made coffee experience to the visitors and residents of Svalbard whilst also allowing room to provide occasional experimental and rare coffees.
Transparency is key for us and we go to great lengths to ensure our coffee farmers are paid fairly and your coffee is sustainably sourced.
It is just Coffee, yet to many throughout Scandinavia it has gained a cultural appreciation and provides a social experience beyond the drink.
The roastery therefore offers a support of the Norwegian coffee culture whilst maintaining a global connection to our coffee farmers and in this keeps to the history of Svalbard itself.
